In 1929, Vivian Bales rode her 1929 Harley Davidson for 78 days and 5,000 miles across the country. She told the papers her motorcycle was a “key to the whole United States.
Vivian Bales was the first motorcycle cover girl and was known for several long distance motorcycle rides around the US, (before most of the roads were paved) in the 1920s and 1930s.

on the road the GT was a much nicer car all round...
the GTS327 reminds me of the XU1s ... built for one thing and that is not being a nice road car
Grunt, noise, speed and you have to manhandle it. No finger tip touch and control with the 327
dunno how anyone wrestled a 327 to victory up and down a mountain
Which is why the HT GTS350 manual (and the HG following version) are much nicer cars to drive
.. anywhere, any time. High speed interstate cruise missiles... the HT would easily sit on a +100 mph
on what we called a highway... the Hume from Melbourne CBD to Albury is 196miles ( I think it is)
and you would do that (remember no speed limits back then) in a tad over 2 hours. 2:05 was usual
Ford went the other way after the XT ...a XW Phase1 was pig to drive
