Ouch... just remember, our grandfathers fought wars for this. This is what it has come to. Fking sad.
Or quickly dump on a Valet Tune Dave heh!
You sound like as much of a drop-kick as the people posting comments on PerthNow. His car was done for Excessive Noise, according to WA's Hoon Law Legislation this can be as little as a overly-loud exaust, or a squeel of tyres from a FWD Camry.
The car had only been there for 2-3 days before it was stolen, so I would assume it would be towards the front of the cars in the yard, but either way, its a lot easier to Part-Out or Re-Birth a Commodore/HSV than a BMW or Merc

Well fark me...Police and holding yard staff are actually human beings...who accasionally make a mistake. Glad no one on the Perth Now site or this forum has EVER made a mistake...
(And don't start up about people making "rare" mistakes on the road and getting caught the ONCE they say they (apparently- very slightly) misbehaved. That's the biggest crock of sh!t I continually hear from drivers.)
Why would someone who is stealing cars for parts/rebirthing go to the trouble of breaking into a secure site to steal a commodore? This is very suss.
Having said that any damage caused to a car should be covered by the tow trucks or holding yard.
One would suspect a similar (and not exactly rare) car parked in a driveway, on the street or in an open carpark would be rather easier to steal than how this story comes across.
It's given a few people an opportunity to vent their police predjudices in the meantime though...
excessive noise is what i was done for when my car was impouded for doing skids, i truly believe he was doing the same.
either way you look at it, he was done for 28days, now that for sure isn't a first offence, it's very likely this was his second or third impoundment.
none of this is really relevant as his car was stolen from the yard and wasn't even informed... that stinks to high heaven.
1. because i think its highly likely he or someone he knows is in on this dealio
2. coppers should be paying up bigime!
Are you for real pal?
No wonder there is NO respect for those who are meant to 'protect and serve' the community. What ever happened to being 'accountable' (oh I forgot, it's only us average Joe Bloe's who are accountable - NOT the constabulary....). Take a long hard look at your self mister self righteous. This is someones hard earned pride and joy, someone who most likely has been a law abiding citizen all of their lives, just like the majority of us on this forum ....................
I remember reading through the od 107 comments on this story on perthnow the other day and it reassured me how farking stupid people are.
The west australian has done a brilliant job on manipulating public opinion on "high performance vehicles" into "death on wheels" , and that you're a hoon if you own one or any V8,turbo 6/4 cylinder.
It's funny because i also read in the same paper statistics that show about 1/4 of the impounded vehicles from last year were V8's and something similar the year before, just paraphrasing that but i dont have the paper article.
28 days is a first offence sentence in WA.
How can you say it's highly likely he was involved when you don't know him? Further more, why would you still think he is involved after the police have investigated him (hence the apparent 12 day delay in notifying him) yet not laid any charges? So many muppet comments floating around on various forums about this issue & most are ill-informed.
i'll happily stand corrected on the 28day being a first offence.. and i'd also like to add thats fookkin crazy, i had mine impounded for 48hrs when i got caught being stupid.
however an arguement of the police having done an "investigation" is hardly a defence. If you knew me in my youth and the amount of outrageous BS i got away with even being investigated you'd be shocked. Plus the fact it was a mistake on their behalf they won't be investigating this very much, In my experience coppers try to cover up their mistakes rather than look into them too much.
if it smells like a pig, looks like a pig.. even tastes like a pig...... don't try and tell me it's not a pig. :P
Seriously Davo I often read your posts and whether I agree or disagree with with you comments I usually respect them as they do offer a opinion from a different point of view. How ever of late I think you are just disagreeing just to settle your own ego and it is bordering on Trolling. To suggest that the police or the holding yard staff should be exonerated because they made a mistake is utterly amazing and mind boggling. They have let him down and have now wiped their hands of it and put it down to tuff luck, which is ridiculous. Yes we are all humans and we make mistakes but real people man up to their mistakes and attempt to make an amends.
I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive
I agree what ever happened to taking responsibility for your mistakes. Someone needs to pay for it
Agreed though that blokes running gear will probably be in a fully sick Gemini next week.
That's crap. Poor bloke if someone stole my car I'd go mental
GT-P1000
Car has been found, Tom will give more details in the morning after he speaks to the police
Anyone find it freaky there is a black VY Clubsport for sale in the classifieds for $10k and a stolen black VY Clubsport both in Perth. What are the chances. Not insinuating anything just freaky.
Hope it gets found.
Wonder whom would be responsible as the cops (or their advocates) had possession.
Edit: If a dealer can keep keys safe WTF can't a supposed "secure" lockup do the same.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
