Same aerial, seems like its has the same mags, just the dual outlet exhaust seems different....
Unless there's some trickery going on with the rear cammo, it looks like the rear with its raised centre section imitates the Malibu:

The days of huge back spoilers maybe coming to an end.
The Commodore cameo looks to have an integrated spoiler and more rounded than VE.
Maybe they are trying to make it look smaller and the wheels on the Commodore cameo although similar to the Malibu are definetely different.
As someone posted a few days ago, and in an article in Wheels/Motor, the focus for the VF is lowering the fuel consumption. As pointed out in the article, the heavily rounded front quarter panels look awesome, however they drastically reduce the drag coefficient. From memory I think it was in the order of 0.02Cd, which is huge in terms of fuel consumption. Combine that with a spoiler that produces 5 fifths of fark all downforce and only serves cosmetics and there are some big improvements to be had. I think they are trying to get some 70kg shed for the VF by using different metals in various panels to help out too.
Glass house is a different shape. The roof above the B pillar and the shape of the glass before the C pillar. VF to Malibu pics I mean
Yeah that's what i first thought could be an export for the U.S. market hard to tell in the pics but the tail light said Malibu to me, but mind you maybe they are rounding the VF off a bit and the Malibu might hold some styling hints for the VF since Holden are going to sell the Malibu.
The windows in that spy pic do look very VE-esque.
They would do well to make the rear look like the coupe 60 ...

In fact, just give me a coupe 60 pleeeeease!

Merc front, Lancer back
Personally i dont mind it i reckon it looks bloody aggressive especially in the V8 supercar form! Dont mind the SS at all either!
It's Black, its waiting to pounce
, the beast
!! Soon to Awake
If the rear of the sedan looks like that, I'll be happy. The front, on the other hand...but Holden usually gets its detailed design pretty right.
Motors cgi version is much better, camaro-ish taillights and overall a smaller appearance which if the rumors of considerable economy gains are correct then it still should be a viable vehicle. Manufactured in Australia maybe not but at least we will still have an 'icon' so to speak
