I actually thought my phone or the the app was buggered! wasn't very happy at the time because I paid for the app to use for the forum but to now find out you have to be validated hrrm..

As said before it isn't actually that easy to get validated, you need two other validated users to vouch for you, I myself don't get a lot of time to get out and do things however I managed to get down to the First time drag event at heathcote drags a while back that was organised via the forums. Had a great time met a lot of forums members still ain't validated. It wasn't really the topic of the day " hey guys who's not validated let's write a list etc.."

I didn't mind about not being validated though would be really great! (if anyone reading remembers me from the drags black vx ss I owned previously), but it would also be really great to use tapatalk again.

    Re: tapatalk and validation

I've known a few forum members for a long time but only now taken the action to get validated, purely to use Tapatalk. Its a decent selling point, forums are an absolute pain to surf on a phone web browser! I'm not interested in any other 'perks'

Not sure how to really respond to this. Been a member of this forum since around 2001-02 (can't exactly remember when) and have purchased various items from sponsors over the years but never bothered getting "validated". Now I'm being told I go to the drags or where ever and ask complete stranger "excuse me sir but you don't happen to be a member of ls1.com.au - I need to get validated as I'm not cool enough when I'm not" or do I wear a bright red tshirt with "non validated ls1.com.au member can you help me out" not as simple to just go get validated!

Right hand side of every post tells when you joined MARRA - Oct 2002. Which of the many Richmonds are you from? NSW, Vic, SA, Qld, Tas?

The whole point of validation is to encourage people to become more involved with those in the LS1 forum community by meeting other members in person. Anyone who doesn't live in a remote community that has been a member for over 10 years and hasn't had an opportunity to meet another member in person must be a shut in.
We get lots of nominations through from Sponsors vouching for their customers they have had good dealings with. Next time you deal with one of the sponsors just ask if they can throw a nomination your way. If not, you don't have to go to the drags, there are also car detailing clinics etc. happening quite regularly where forum members attend, and they're held by a sponsor anyway.

That's what piss's me off about this - because in the past 10 years I have never asked anyone to tell the Ls1 forum I'm cool the presumption is I'm some pasty white overweight bloke who never leaves the house....

I live in a very remote area and managed it without an issue...

This is so typical of people's attitudes these days.

Rather than think "I'd really like to have the benefit of being able to use Tapatalk, I'd better take steps to get validated"

They whinge and moan about it in the hope that the rules will be changed to suit them.

I came here being a SuperMod on another forum for 10+ years, whiles the "rules" took some getting used to as they're different to what I used to they're the rules I agreed to when I joined, I was happy to meet a couple of the guys in the real world to get validated even though there were no perks at the time, just felt a little more connected to the community.

AU forums tend to be a bit more confrontational and in your face by comparison so maybe a lot of people are a little uncomfortable about meeting IRL..

    Re: tapatalk and validation

I lived up in lakes entrance - over four hours away from melb and was able to make it along to a few cruises in melb. They were great fun, got to meet some great blokes and ended up getting validated as a result.

    Re: tapatalk and validation

It must be a few years since we've had a good "why do I have to meet people to get validated" thread!

I've been validated since 2004 and I've never used tapatalk ... to cause this much of a fuss it must be awesome! I'll have to check it out ...

Yeah, I must do the same as well, I am happy using my phone on here but I might have to catch up with a local validated member
and get him to show me how it all works.

Actually Nick it is pretty good if you ever access the forum from mobile devices.

Even better if you're a moderator..... You can make a person and every post they've ever made disappear in 4 taps of the screen.

Nick you gotta get on it. Its amazing, so much easier than using your browser on your phone.
I actually prefer tapatalk on my phone to the browser on a computer.
