Storm in a teacup, I was much amused that they dont do this kind of carry on about the XR6T / F6 / GT which all will depreciate WORSE than the average Commodore, and can have huge amounts of power extracted from them easily.

Based on the RBA inflation calculator $93k in 2000 is equivalent to $131k in todays money. Obviously the market has changed, but I'm guessing anyone in the HSV market, especially those looking to mod anyway, might well jump straight to the GTS if they can afford it. $100k for that level of performance is really truely insane.

guess you could buy an R8 and bolt the blower on yourself, but to start at 430 fly wheel kilowatts with full warranty is a true bargain. If you go auto and it does get the 6L90 then its just another bonus. 100 kilowatts more than the standard HSV, and a solid 70 kilowatts more than the performance options.

Kilowatts might not mean everything, but having the blower there is going to mean vastly different driving characteristics, and certainly wont help straight line performance. You only need one kidney right?

You'd probably laugh your ass off at the try hard in the POS who's spent thousands of dollars on a car that's still only worth roughly the same as a carton of photocopy paper.

People with nice cars don't give 2 shits what try hards in old heaps of rubbish can do.....

The guys that own the old POS think others do to make themselves feel better about throwing thousands of dollars down the toilet.

dont forget those with nice cars also probably have millions in realestate, a bathroom reno done season at $90k, sip $100 bottles of wine most nights and on the weekends spend it lazing on the boat but dont leave the marina...... I don't think many people would begrudge someone who had handed over their hard earned for an Aussie GTS , less of the "Tool" "Wanker" badge that some makes get.


That he/she was jealous a blown state of the art HSV GTS and that it's ricer motor will probably need a rebuild after .....

well theres a lot of ve gts/ r8 maloo /r8 club sports , out there now that are blown /stroked or both , and they would have cost over the 100K so i reckon one allready done from the factory is a bargain

i think the common rule is, at the most you should buy a new car to the value of 1 years salary.

I ususally take this rule and halve it. So if i earn ~70K, i will only spend 35K on a car. Unfortunatly this puts me out of the price bracket for a new HSV... but i am still very happy to buy 2nd hand ones around the 3-5 year mark, and help to keep the re-sale value up!

I was never intending to really buy a HSV, i was happy enough owning a SS, but one day i saw my car and HAD to have it. Bought it same day. Unplanned.

Judging by the anount of HSV's and Lsx powred commo's i see on the roads every day, the LS motor is king! Soo many people love these cars, that HSV won't have any probs getting them out the door.... ok enough rambling..

I think HSV is silly to be offering engines with four different power figures

they should only have two - 340kW for the Clubsport, Senator and Grange and 430kW for the GTS

I think it makes sense for HSV to have different offerings given there is now a base Clubsport (assuming this continues with VF), then there is R8 which with MY12.5 is standard with BiModal and 325Kw, then the higher spec cars like Senator, GTS and Grange, I am wondering will there be a GTS 340 plus a S/C GTS 430 or will GTS be 430 only? I agree with what many have said that the GTS should be something special power wise, back in the VT VX Days there was at least a 45 or 50 Kw difference to the GTS 300. If the GTS 430 is less than $100K D/A they should have a reasonable market for them, the GTS 300 was well over $80,000 12 years ago. If they could sell 137 375Kw W427's at about $145,000 in the 08/09 GFC, then I am sure they can do good numbers with the new sub $100K GTS 430.

Clubsport and Maloo should be 317Kw
Clubsport R8 and Maloo R8 should be 340Kw
Luxury models should also gain the 340Kw

There's nothing wrong with doing up an older / less desirable car, as long as you don't pretend that it's something it's not - i.e I would not put a Commodore, no matter how modified on the same level as a GT-R or Ferrari.
