The 1900 has the new rotor design and the intake temps are supposed to be lower. I looked on the internet about your 11.1 : 1 static compression and it might be a bit high. Maybe it is worth changing heads to stock 241 heads. Then you can run 9 or 10 psi in with no problems. just a thought. Another good idea is to run E85 if you can. You will then get the full effect of the blower as you should. I am running 98 octane pump gas, but I am probably 100hp short of the same engine running E85. It is 700hp now and could be 800 with E85. It was not available when I build my engine and is only just available now on pump in Brisbane.
Thanks bud. A good set of 2nd hand LS1 heads shouldn't cost me too much or would I be better off getting a set of the 243 heads?
I've always thought about E85. That could be an option, however there still aren't that many servos around (near me) with E85 and knowing my luck I'd get low on fuel and then struggle to find a servo that stocks E85
I did the Blown Stroker thing, 402ci and a 2300 Harrop Stealth Force, only "regret" was I should only have done 1....
Both made it a bit of a Monster for a daily driver and was only a matter of time before it all went tits up and I either lost my licence or life..![]()
Everyone likes the idea of chasing big numbers and faster times but there's definitely a usable level for the street. I think in a VT-VZ that's around the 500 mark. Enough to have fun, run quick times etc and certainly more than enough to get you in to trouble real quick!
Yea i agree you dont really need to stroke it with a blown motor unless your really insane haha. Im going to be pulling my motor down sooner or later to put forged rods and pistons in it ive got the opportunity to take it to 416 or whatever but i dont think i will its already got buckets of torque and if I make it bigger it will be to big for my 1900 blower.
Mechatron, If you can get 243 heads then do it. 243 heads flow a bit better on the intake. The exhaust flow is much the same. The e85 route is still a bit of a pain in Brisbane and I could not be bothered. You will enjoy a blower if you fit one. Everything costs money of course, but if you are a keen enthusiast then they are easy to fit and still ok on fuel until you put the foot down. You can always take it off and sell it if you get sick of it as well. r
Hang on the compression ratio will be too high with 243 heads so forget that. 241 heads would be nice and cheap so just get them.

How much do you want to spend on heads? You could get get the Mast small bore LS3 heads that would fit then you could run the latest 2300 heartbeat. But then were getting out of hand cost wise here lol but you would have a bloody strong 5.7.
My 2 cents: I had Chev's whack a HTV1900 on my VYII SS Wagon near on 2 years ago now ............. wow, that long already ........... started with all the usual bolt on's and some suspension work. Was nice for a short time but REALLY wanted some more ........ the difference from bolt on's to PD blower (6psi) was like having sex as 16 year old for the first time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLEW my mind!!!!
Just like being 16 though, I soon realized that I just couldn't keep my hand(s) off it ............... *evil grin* and soon upgraded to 9psi - that kept me happy for about a year until I needed just a 'little' more and went down the blower cam route .............. 350rwkw/715nm - A year later, I STILL love getting in it! It cruises like OEM but when that angry pedal goes down ............. Yeah Baby!!
Do I regret it! - Shit NO! - Don't ask my wife the same question though ...............
DO be mindful though, as some (including myself) have found out, once you get up around the 300+ rwkw mark, shit starts to break/wear more often than it used to (especially if it is a daily - I'm already a couple of A4 builds down... and honestly don't think I drive it like I stole it...); Also, the quicker you 'can' make it go forwards, means you really need to have an 'appropriate' ability to 'stop' it just as quickly (at least that was my thinking anyway) .............. again, do I regret 'any' of it ............... nope, in my mind it all made sense and continues to put a BIG smile on my face every time I drive it (even those moments AND sounds that make you 'cringe' are soon replaced when you give that right foot a 'little' squirt ........... YES, PD blowers all day, every day!!)
If you've got the coin and the inclination, then 'Just Do It'...... *wink* ........... I don't think you will regret it.
