    Immobilser fail light on dash

    Hey guys
Just wondering if anybody can help me out..
Ive got a VZ clubsport 2004 model, and everytime on start up i get a warning indicating immobiliser fail.
I press the mode button and it clears it but still has a small 'X' in the corner.
Now my problem is HSV are telling me they can not fix it..they had it for 3 weeks and couldn't figure out how to clear it.
My local tune shop said it should have been a simple thing to fix.
15 months ago i had the ECU replaced, i think with a second hand genuine one.
The car has a tune with cam, exhaust etc.
The tune shop i took it to before HSV could only clear it for 4 starts of the car then it re-appears. He also told me that the because the ECU had been replaced, HSV had to create a new computer ID to link it to my car or something along the lines of that, which should have been a simple process but found out later from HSV its not.
HSV thought it could have been a PIM (power train interface module) i think it stands for, so ordered it and still wasn't the issue. They also tried to reset the computer to factory settings, but for some reason they couldn't reset!?

Sorry if that was a bit of rambling but I'm just trying to mention everything i can think of. The whole thing is seriously doing my head in!

So I'm now stuck with HSV claiming they can't fix it and my tune shop not wanting to really do anymore work on it because they can't charge me if they don't fix the issue.

I have lived with the issue for over a year now and just pressed mode to clear it, but i am selling it now and would like to clear this message.

Has anybody heard of this issue or had this happen to them? If so what was the solution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers in advance

There's a software update with a revised PIM for that issue. Get your tuner to reset it to a stock file, then get the dealer to SPS/update as required, then take it back for you tune. Software updates can be picky with unlocked PCMs. The PIM is required for older VZs as the early PIM doesn't work with the revised calibration. Make sure the pn on the PIM is 92181129.

How was the used ECM set up?

Is yours an A6 or M6? Reason I ask VZ M6's maybe not all have clutch pedal start inhibitors fitted. My 06 VZ did though had my E38 OS wiped & reprogrammed it also gives the "X" security message very occasionally on start up. Never fails to start though! I put mine down to the clutch inhibitor ignored in the tune though.

Thanks for the info mate, ill let my tuner know

When it was set up, the old ECM tune was locked and had to be sent to LSX in sydney, get the tune off and reloaded into the new ECM, thats what i got told anyway lol.
