Going off your photos, the weights are definitely part of the pads. I have the Brembo calipers front and rear on my VE and they look indentical to yours from what I can see in the photo.
Interesting to see what purpose they serve.

From what I've been told they are dampeners, to help stop vibration under braking.

Interesting, I assume they are a GM pad. Wonder how they compare to aftermarket such as Ferodo, EBC and Bendix etc.

Good question, I'm not sure whether the aftermarket pads would have the dampeners or not. Hopefully someone will let us know.

I am running Ferodo pads with my Brembo's and they have no dampeners. Also have a set of QFM A1RM on the shelf and they also do not have dampeners. Seems to be am OEM VF thing.

The engineers must have discovered a fundamental harmonic during testing, so added the mass dampers to lower the frequency.

I'd hazard a guess it's more for comfort and possibly for that pad compound. When i do get a chance I'll pull them and take some pics

So, the bloody big screen, or is it the MyLink screen. Is it dimmable? I know you should be able to alter the brightness of the dashboard dials but can you also do it for the big screen? If not, that could be quite bright and distracting at night?

The light sensor that controls your headlights also dims the my link screen. I have series 1 but can't recall if there is a user setting for this.

When I adjust the brightness of the dials the mylink screen also gets dimmer or brighter on my vf2 redline.

Ok, good to hear. I like a not so bright dashboard and I was hoping the mylink screen would also be dimmable as it takes up a significant portion of the dash.

Re: VF Series II IS HERE

Motor have uploaded a new video of the new Clubsport vs the XR8. The funny part is it was filmed on the same day as the video against the LS3 Redline and the video picks up with the driver of the Redline saying he was just soundly spanked by the XR8 (although the numbers and video don't show it) and this time the XR8 gets magically close to the new Clubsport with quicker 0-100 and 0-400m times. Pretty solid proof that Motor fudge all their times and that strong headwind crap at the bottom of the original video was probably just to cover their asses. http://www.motormag.com.au/features/...lsa-drag-race/
