    Is this normal?

    Hey guys,

Is this a normal occurrence? My Bilsteins are only a few years old and lucky to have done 10K kms

I know it's probably only a dust cover and it does compress with my lowered suspension...however I'm still a bit annoyed as they're not exactly cheap shocks

I reckon you should be able to just buy a suitable dust cover on its own pretty cheap somewhere.

They do hey...pretty disappointing for a quality brand. I just checked my receipt for the install. It was about 2.5yrs ago and I haven't even done 5000kms

Very easy to tell now the boot is ripped. Only problem to replace the boot the entire assy. needs to be pulled down to do. A good hand should be able to do them in half hour per side. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info Mick. The other side has a slight hole and is likely to start tearing as well

What would cause them to tear like that? Rocks? Or just cheap material?

    Re: Is this normal?

I reckon just sh*t material, as bump stops won't affect the rebound effect of the strut. Over compression of the spring without a bump stop can't see how that will tear the boot as were only talking maybe an extra 30mm travel give or take a little.
