    Cost to repair small dent

I have a small dent/crease on the front of the drivers side rear wheel arch (basically between door and rear wheel). Unfortunately it is double skinned and cannot be done by paintless dent removal (they said they might be able to drill a hole in wheel arch and get it, but not keen on that). I was wondering what is considered a reasonable price for a panel shop to fix this and repaint? Will they bog it? And will I probably just end up with mis matched paint? Car is Silver. It is the only blemish on the vehicle and a really would like to get it rectified.

    Cheers and any advice welcome.

Agreed, and if it isn't done properly it's ALWAYS going to catch your eye...

Quicksilver is a c#nt of a colour to match. You will see blend lines from angles in different light.
Probably need to spray the 1/4 and door at a minimum.

Have you tried a dent bloke who uses glue? I have a dent on a double skinned section of my territory, my dent bloke (who is very good) was out fixing the wife's car and I asked him about fixing a double skinned inaccessible dent. He said he could 'glue and pull' it and thinks he could get it near perfect. Its a shitty territory so I'm not too fussed but as long as yours isn't too sharp a dent, could be worth a shot?

Re: Cost to repair small dent

I had the rear guards rolled on my Ute and the guards badly distorted where the little hole is on the inside of the lip at the top of the crown.

Other Ute owners will know about this and how a lot of care should be taken when rolling in this area.

Unfortunately I made a bad choice and the job on my car was a mess and after taking it to a panel shop and being told both guards would need to be pulled and resprayed I decided to have a go with the Paintless Dent Hot Glue Removal System first before I shelled out that sort of cash.

The first photo is pretty rough and blurred and it’s meant to show the distortion where the guard is pushed in out of shape for about 4 inches with a dent about the size of a 50 cent piece dead in the middle.

I used a 1½ inch rectangular tab glued to the panel and a small slide hammer to pull the guard out straight (it took about 5 goes to get it back in shape - I forgot to take a photo of the tab glued to the panel).

Then I used this smaller round tab to work on the 50 cent size dent that was left.

After 5 goes with small round tab I was left with a small dent right on the folded lip.

I then used the old fashion method of a broom handle and lifted using the weight of the car to do the rest.

I was happy with the finish as it removed all signs of the distortion.

I bought this kit for a $173 off ebay

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172166528...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and as I’ll probably never use some of the tools if I was to buy again I’d go for a more basic kit.

I used it to corrected both rear guards and pull a small trolley dent from the driver’s door and when I showed my neighbour the general area of the door dent, he couldn't find where I pulled it.

I looked at plenty of YouTube videos to give me the confidence before having a go knowing the worst that could happen if I got it wrong was I would still only have to pay the body shop to fix it.

All up it took me about 3 hours one afternoon and saved me a hell of a lot of money.

Re: Cost to repair small dent

I am booked in next Friday. The guy that does it said he cannot guarantee success, but if he cannot get it out he does not charge. Pretty good considering I was prepared to pay just for him to have a crack. Will report back on how it goes if anyone is interested.
