Sounds like you had a really nasty bitch handle your claim.

I actually thought one of their big advertising draw cards was "Choice Of Repairer"?

I think, if they stuff you around on this any more I better also look at changing my insurer for 2 of my cars.

I hear there is another insurance company that is also covering highly modified & classic cars at competitive rates.

    "Choice Of Repairer"
Being under the Suncorp umbrella they try to push you to their repair centers though they cannot force you there.

The other co. is Enthusiasts insurance.

Whilst we are talking of insurance anyone with a late model V8 commodore should contact their insurer as the values have increased dramatically, I was shocked how much both my VF2's have gone up in about 8 months!!

Talking to a lot of people this week who are under insured Mick. Not just Holden's either, a tough lesson for some people. I have had agreed value insurance on all of my car for as long as I can remember, regardless of the status of the vehicle, never have I lost out on a claim.

Ed, it all came good today. I spoke with a really nice lady at the Australasion Hail Network. She advised me that I can book in asap at Elizabeth South for assessment. I told her politely that I am with Shannon's and that I cannot see the point in wasting time with this assessment when I already have quotes from my preferred repairers. She straight up said yes, and that she will refer back to Shannon's. So long story short, Shannon's have agreed and accepted Erasadent for the PDR repairs and Regal Crash for the bonnet respray and now just waiting for a time to book in.

Rod Australasion do a very good job, if the bonnet is too damaged they will replace it, highly recommend them.

Can't replace it Mick, is a GTO Bonnet from the VX era, that is why I want it repaired. All but one dent is being done by PDR and the remaining one which is near a weld is being skimmed and then total respray.

Funny re insurance. I e got my Monaro covered with Shannon’s they have come back to me with an agreed value if $12,000 I’ve never really taken much notice of the agreed value but laughed at how they arrived at that figure there’s no way you could buy anything close to a Monaro for that figure. So I rang them and asked what a payout figure would be ie agreed or market value what ever is higher to which they replied only the agreed value that they set. I know insurers like raa will offer the higher of the two figures. Haven’t really done much more apart from pay my renewal as I figured I’m pretty buggered finding an insurer that will insure a modified v8
    I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive

Hey Todd, ring Shannons & tell them to put it up to at least $30,000.

I can't see why there would be any problem,
I know quite a few people who have made same phone call recently after seeing the rise in market prices around the place.

Your black, manual, cammed V2 Monaro is obviously worth heaps more than $12,000

I renegotiated the values on all of our vehicles with Shannons last night. Calais is now at 50k, 2009 Mazda 3 SP25 (42K on odo) 18k, 2009 VW Golf 118TSI 9K and the ute up to 30k once the current claim for hail damage is closed out. Todd's Monaro should be nearer to 40k if in good nick surely. And if it were badly hail damaged with that current agreed value it may well have been written off.

My SS is insured with them with some"Extreme" limited use clause on the policy.

From memory I am only supposed to drive it 28 days a year.

That is no problem though because it has not been registered since the start of March

& I think I will only be registering it for 3 months a year now anyway.

I am actually even half thinking about not registering it this year but I reckon I will.

Calais is on the same limited use policy Ed, about once a month it gets driven at most and when it does it is parked inside a secure facility.
