Hi
Since a pic of an Impulse blue Lumina Ute SS has already been posted there is no point in posting mine although mine is branded Chevrolet as I am in South Africa. Mine is the 250 kw. 2005 model. I would like to get more power out of it but mods are expensive. Any ideas for do-it-yourself mods or inexpensive ones?
I notice that all these motors are force fed by supercharging not turbocharging. The latter seems more efficient. Any idea why they do not turbo?
ROY

Hey Roy,
I am going turbo shortly :) Supercharging is popular but they both have benefits.
As for modifying your car, a dual 2.5" exhaust is a worthwhile upgrade and talk to one of the tuners about getting a MAFless tune done by sending your ECU over to Australia.

Nice one sideways. l just got mine and having the back chev badge painted as we speak.(Quick Silver) :)
After looking for a Traytop I couldnt go pass this Ute. It will be my weekender for now, too low for work so still might trade it down the track for a VZ Tonner......Ive booked in for a Club Drive Day with Track Skill at Mallala Motor Sport Park for next week..(only car ive driven last 9 years is my 283 auto WB Tonner)
P.S Can you spot the mods??

just wondering what work had to be done to put in the Billet fuel cap??
my stock one is all scratched and looks shoddy, was thinking of replacing, but with one like yours........whos the company that supplies those things????
The cap is bolt on with Sparco name on it to highlite the SS badge. The guy who did all the mods owned Emtech in Adelaide so the ute was used for display over the years.

guys its not a commadore ute but we had to sell the vs malloo cause it was too hard to get the motor bike in the back with the spoilers & too low for the paddocks, so we got the rodeo, its a bit low also but its a lot more user friendly for the bikes. it actually gets more looks than the vs did. pretty much brought it the way it is near sydney , 04 model with 06 tub $2400 worth of wheels 18 inch flash stereo timber s wheel gear knob & peddles,we plan on getting more chrome around the front for bit more bling, its a fun thing to drive & a bit cheaper to run than the old 5 litre, does'nt have the V8 note but its doing the job, until we look at the VE utes that ishttp://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p98/blackbettyhsv/brutus005.jpg

I have an vu ss50, had a bit of a play just 2.5" twin exhaust, pacemaker 4 into 1 extractors, hi-flow cats, 3000 hi-stall, I did have big plans for it but it looks like it will be going soon with my first bub on the way. I would post pics but can't yet, havn't posted enough yet apparently.

sign up at www.photobucket.com then all you need to do is press add photo, upload, then underneath the photo it comes up with all the URLs once its uploaded. Just click the IMG code one which automatically copies it, then paste into your post. There are heaps of threads on this topic so if you still cant work it out, do a search on the topic and there are probably more detailed threads, it is really easy though.

I have also recently fitted a Magnaflow 1300Hp fuel system and 8L surge tank with upgraded lines and fittings. Also fitted the battery into the tray and spaced the old engine bay battery tray about 3" higher in the engine bay.

they have not begun volume production yet.
some dealers have been given "saleable" off tool cars to be displayed, but that is different to cars rolling off an assembly line.

I agree with you Chris.
I went to the VE Ute preview here in Perth last week, and Holden told us that they would not be on sale until October. So I am highly sceptical that a member of the general public has already picked theirs up.

Mungrel, they are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat it. Cause you sit IN them instead of ON them, they support the body and you dont get aches or feel tired after long drives.
They aint cheap though

One of the best examples Ive seen of the new Maloo. Its the perfect angle because it doesnt show the back at all or hard lid, and its the perfect colour because black is best + it dosent highlight the crappy plastic bit on the skirts. What were they thinking with the tail lights-tailgate-hardcover-jap diffuser style rear bumper????? :spew:

Is it just that angle or is that Maloo's tint really dark?
Yeah it probably is pretty dark, the body colour would be affecting the look of the tint too (making it look darker).
That's a perfect photo with absolutely no sun glare.

camera angles ALWAYS make a shot look better...
i always try to take shots from headlight height so you get a more even look to the car... if you are up too high the car seems to look small, and won't appear to look in scale and proportion in the frame...
its ok if you are aiming for the effect or want a shot into an engine bay...
also pay careful attention to the angle the sun is, or where lighting is coming from, and how the car looks in its surroundings...
and get yourself a semi-decent tripod too if you plan to take a lot of dark photo's in low light situations... you'll really notice a difference!!!
look at things other than the car... look for people walking around that might appear to be walking in the car or appear to stick out of the roof... be careful not to have power poles, street signs, tree branches and the like coming out of the roof...
but in this age of digital camera's you really can't go wrong!!!
so get out with your car and have a play, its the best way to learn!!!

I'm not sure if you're talking about mine but they're 20s - and I have no idea what brand they are, I've seen them called BBOSS Eleanor, Lenso Granzo, KSpeed Biaggi ???

Depends on the centre cap as to what brand they are. B.Boss created the rim first and everyone else copied.

i have little trouble getting round... the only thing you have to worry about is forgetting about keeping paint on the bottom of your side skirts, and keeping your expensive exhaust looking good... a few scrapes and grinds here and there is expected when clearance drops to as low as 60mm under there in one spot...
at the front i'm running a custom made coil over with a koni adjustable insert...
at the rear its king spring part number KHRL46SSSL with standard HSV shocks and cut down bump stops...
the ute, and myself, will be at USA Day this sunday if you want to have a closer look.
mods, sorry to go a bit off topic...
