If you read the article properly there is NO denial in the FPV's sheer grunt and straight line speed, fact remains it's a one trick horse. For the majority of buyers it won't be an issue but when compared to the HSV it just can't compete dynamically ie. it don't handle good! They have done what every after market boof does and slap on some too firm dampers with little respect for rebound, bump and bump steer. If you read the article there's a few references as to the cars bump compliance or lack thereof.
I can't believe this has turned into pages and pages of the same drivel, the car has a fine driveline, world class as a matter of fact, but it is simply let down by it's archaic chassis and road compliance (we are talking a road car here).
People saying that the magazines are payed of is just ludicrous, there is plenty of expamples where the Falcon or it's variant has beaten the General.
G6E turbo v Calais and the new Ecoboost to name a few. These journalist drive more examples of cars than you and i could dream of, they have more to compare to and can pick the shortcomings of a car with ease, it is their job.
Having a punt from the local lights the FPV wins hands down no doubt, but having a spirited drive through some of our great roads and the FPV is going to suffer. Both have pros and cons just choose which pro and con appeals to you the most.
