Yes, mainly outlined earlier in this forum, there are a few little differences here and there that make (for mine) the VZ a more sought after choice. Its just my personal preference I guess!

Glad your VY2 LX8 is going well. I will get one eventually, just hopefully something will come up soon. If it has mods, even better!

To the best of my knowledge, the main differences lie between the 6cyl variants not so much the 8cyl. Apart from the 4l65, brake booster and electronic throttle that is.

VZ spec LS1 and 4L65 is in VY2 update models. You just have to be careful as people miss advertise them most of the time. Just look for engine bay pics for the VZ larger black MAF

i thought when they went to 'true' vz, they all had FBW? if so, thatd be the easiest way to tell. Anyhow, i dont feel the differences are worthy of hanging out for a VZ when the vy2 update is essentially the same. Only difference is the front bar and the binnacle guages. That said i have a vy2 (pre update) and i dont regret the descision one little bit, i specifically wanted cable throttle as i have a cable driven harrop blower for it...

Vy has the better looking front anyway I reckon. Especially the avalanches.

I asked the guys at Holden based on my Addy's VIN, they said it's a Vy series 2 but it's a Cable throttle and 4L60E??

All the LS1 Addy's came with 4l60E, Cross 8 came with 4l65E and HSV Avalanche came with 4l65E.

If you aint towing then dont worry about it.

What would be the amount to offer on various prices? I mean that one for example is asking $17,650, is $12k cash acceptable. By that I mean is it enough to not be insulting?? Do people actually accept offers for less $5-6k?

Do not be scared to offer a low price. What is the worst that can happen? They say no.

I just bought my '03 CV8 with 117k's, Harrop brakes all round, full exhaust and tune for $20k.

My brief was to buy a "monaro" for $20k, it had to be an '03 to get the VY style dash, but other than that I had no other requirements. I was expecting a beat up high K version for the cash..

Saw this one sitting on the side of the road with a for sale sign. Stopped for a look and called the owner to come down for a look. I was lucky I had my paint n Panel mate with me to go over it. All factory paint except for the Fluted bonnet that had been installed, so no crash damage. We didnt talk price, as I knew it would be way out of my range. Told the owner we would think about it and get back to him.

Few days later I called him up for an 'honest' chat. Told him that I liked the car but it needed some work here and there and that all I could offer was 20k. He asked if I was serious as it was on Carsales for $27k. I crapped on about how it needed this and that (Tyres, a good clean andso forth), Then told him that I was a serious buyer with the cash and that it is a buyers market and there was a lot for sale at the moment. Then added that I would have my arse in one of these cars by the end of the week, so if it wasnt his car, it would be someone elses. He told me that someone had already offered that amount and that if he wasgoing to sell that cheap it would go to the other guy.

So I went and told the missus that we missed that car and would have to start looking for another. She told me to ring back and offer some more. I said Nope, if he is serious about selling he will ring me back.

Within 1/2 hour he called back and accepted the offer.

Happy happy days. Car has not missed a beat in the 10k that I have driven it.

So long story short, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain from making a silly low offer.

When I had to get some parts for my Cross 8, they looked at the VIN and said it comes up as an 03 Crewman SS Cross 8.

The "SS" bit confused me.

I think the "SS" pack was an interior trim thing?
(I got a shifter bezel from one to get the TRAC switch before finding out you can't disable TRAC on a CrossTrac car ever)
