I actually prefer tapatalk on my phone to the browser on a computer.
I access the forum all the time on my iPad ... I've just never bothered trying tapatalk as I didn't find anything wrong with using Safari.

Sounds like it's worth a try though, might download and give it a go tonight! Thanks boys ...

    Re: tapatalk and validation

Won't this cause people to get validated simply because they want to use Tapatalk, sort of defeating the purpose of getting validated? Wouldn't a better method be their rep power? I have never bothered as I work very long hours and usually access the forum during the day from my phone whilst riding the porcelain pony !!!

I can safely say that I have helped many other members as well as being helped myself. However I now feel like a second class citizen. It doesn't bother me, but it is a bit of a slap in the face.

I think a lot of people forget that a forum is not a public entity, it is simply owned by an individual and he has the right to do what ever he wants!

Nope. Just a fact that its harder for some to get validated because of all sorts of reasons to do with location, work and other commitments. No biggy - just a simple suggestion for a bit of improved opportunity for good interaction with the forum.

If the draw of being able to use Tapatalk is enough to make a member get more involved in the forum community to become Validated, then it has served its intended purpose. If they just meet people to get Validated and then become a shut-in again, then there's not a lot we can do about that, but at least we can say we tried to get them more involved. Rep power on the forum is just an online measure of various stats that doesn't really mean anything in the real world. Getting out there and meeting people in the real world is a much better measure of who they are. Never know, you might end up meeting some people that become great mates ... I know I did.

If that's the case then just send the people you've helped or have helped you a PM and see if they can send in a nomination for you (if they are Validated already). Doesn't hurt to ask, and as long as you weren't a complete tool most members will oblige with a nom.

    Re: tapatalk and validation

In all fairness I don't think this forum is really anything like a decent car club is and that seems like what being validated is all about. There is not a huge amount of social activities, cruises, dyno days, sound offs, etc to really get out and meet other members. Yes, you occasionally get the chance if you've been a member for a fair amount of time but I also think that if you've done your time then you should still get the same treatment. I mean I sure as hell don't go around talking to random people at the drags with this forum being the main talking point! And as I said in my post earlier, if this is the rule then so be it but I can also see where all the non-validated people are coming from.

    Re: tapatalk and validation

Been there and done that, I was very involved with the Holden LS1 club in Townsville, we had a lot of fun and went on some great cruises, especially the Burdekin Dam, was an awesome day. However I found that there were a lot of members that were only interested in doing burnouts etc... I am not interested in getting back into that scene at all especially with police targeting groups of car enthusiasts. If that means I remain a non-validated member then that's fine, I have no intentions of whoring myself out to people just so I can use tapaTalk if I help people it's because I want to, not to gain anything in return. For me tapatalk is only a convenience anyway

    Re: tapatalk and validation

I was in the same boat, bought tapatalk to use on LS1.com.au and now its been taken away.
How about i post my business card and you call my GM and ask if i really exist?
you should inform tapatalk that your forum is only for validated people so they can at least put a warning up....poor form in my book,

ill tell you this, i wont be coming on here as often as i do, and i am sure there are a lot of other non superusers on here with a post count of <500 who will not be browsing the site as frequently.
What you have effectively done is reduce the amount of potential customers for the paying sponsors of this site....starve their children for the sake of a silly "feature being on/off"

Put it this way, it sucks for those like myself that bought tapatalk to use with the forum, but you can't really do much about it. I want to be validated however I honestly don't see it happening any time soon, current circumstances just won't allow for it. If you want to use it with the ls1 forum you have to become a validated member you have to play by the forum rules.. (unless this rule changes )

Hey if its the rules, its the rules...

Just a decision that needs to be flagged for the appropriate person who is in a position to make a change.
Can one of the mods let the owner now, if he reads the topic and still sticks by his decision then so be it..

All this seems a little out of proportion to how big ths issue really is to me.

Bit pissed my self Been on the forum for 5 years I shouldn't have beg to be validated I looked at advertising it on the forum it just seemed way to hard to get any questions answered etc so I went in another direction . The mods should just validate u after a period of time and posts etc and based on u don't stirring up trouble etc

How can you be pissed about it when it was stipulated in the rules when you first signed up.
It encourages people to join in on cruises and events, to meet new people who all share a common interest.

If people think you're whoring yourself out just because you send them a PM seeing if they'll throw a nomination your way, you might need to work on your wording. Maybe start with "Hey mate" instead of "Hey big boy"?
